Just as there are numerous benefits of taking birth control pills, there are several risks involved too. These are as follows:

Worsen Diabetes: Birth control pills may worsen the effects of diabetes, especially in women who are addicted to smoking, are over 35 years of age and suffer from other multiple ailments like high blood pressure or kidney disorder.

Cause Heart Attack: Though BCPs do not normally cause heart attack, they may instigate heart risks for women under the age limit of 35years and older, who are addicted to smoking.

Cause STD's: Birth control pills do not provide any protection against the sexually transmitted diseases.

Lead to Migraines and Stroke: Women having a history of migraine, taking oral contraceptives are at a severe risk of suffering from stroke.
